India’s Hariharamananda Ashram, which houses more than 60 Hindu temples in northern Tamil Nadu, is set to go for auction, according to the Tamil Nadu government.

The sprawling complex, which was built in the late 1970s, was built to accommodate about 4,000 worshipers and is now being sold for around $3 million, according a government official.

It has been the site of several controversial incidents, including an attack on a Hindu temple by Hindu mobs in 1991.
